Australiana toile design

I’ve created a design for the latest Spoonflower fabric design contest. The theme is ‘Cityscapes’ and you can vote by clicking HERE. I’ve just ordered 5 yards of this….I can’t wait to see it printed!

I chose a variety of images that symbolise Sydney and Australia. I’ve given it a Surreal twist with giant Kangaroos sporting bat wings, giant redbacks crawling over the Opera House and flying sharks lurking through the sky. The pattern I’ve used for the ground is my ‘Jiminy’ print which is a camouflage of florals and insects. The gum tree and bike with the city silhouette, is the view from Sydney Park, just near my house. The mandalaesque flowers look like exploding fireworks behind the Harbour Bridge. This is my first toile style fabric and I already have ideas for more!

Swoon and Blues at Bluebird Markets yesterday

Lee and I held our second stall at Bluebird handmade Markets yesterday. We had some new stock to add to the stall this month. Lee made some stunning new bags and I had new earrings and pendants. You can see more photos at our Swoon & Blues blog here. Bluebird are holding two markets next month on the 3rd and 17th of Dec, come along and get all your Xmas shopping done!

Totally bunted!

I’ve jumped on the bunting wagon and pulled out all my spare screen-printed fabric to create my first bunting. I love the instant festive feeling they create. I have lots of triangles left over which I plan on making octagonal cushion covers from. I’ve completely got my craft on at the moment!

Process and presentation shot

I had a few tea towel orders to print today which is always nice. I thought I’d take some photos to document the process. After much faffing about with ‘in situ’ shots (which one really needs a proper camera for), I came up with these two which I’m rather pleased with considering my cheap camera…it has served me well though.

Stockist Spotlight Viewpoint Gallery

I recently answered some questions for  Viewpoint Gallery’s stockist spotlight. You can see ‘Swoon & Blues’ and other makers featured on their blog here.

View Point Handmade Gallery

I am excited to have my first stockist. I received an e-mail via our madeit shop from Jess and Stef inviting Swoon & Blues to be part of View Point in Bendigo. They have set up a beautiful space to sell handmade goodies, you can follow their blog here or check them out on facebook.

New tiles

I finally have something to post! It has only taken me 4 months. I now have a studio to create in, which I am loving, and I’m currently getting stock together to hit the markets when it warms up. Here is a glimpse of what I’ve been up to.
